Ann Demeulemeester Fall 2009 Men's

Everything that makes up fall and more. Capturing the season’s mood in the air, Ann Demeulemeester re-works the world’s crisis to her advantage. With many shows during fashion week playing up the idea of luxury during hard times, Demeulemeester masters the art of adding an edgy romantic side to it all. Not completely out in left field with array of colors that leave you wondering “why?”, the Belgian designer instead uses the typical subtle and somber blacks and browns that we always associate the season with. Yet somehow finding a way to make it come across as the coolest thing you’d ever seen so far.
Known for catering to a man with a more wondering mind, totally inhibited when it comes to what he wears, this season Demeulemeester takes all that makes up everything that we’ve come to instantly love and transforms it into a masterpiece. Heavily channeling her own Fall 2007 collection, if you didn’t get the chance to catch the boots and hats the first time around, fear not – they’re back again…newly revamped.
Keeping with her formula of “fit to perfection with little dashes of over-sized bulk”, over-sized knits once again make for a source of warmth. Making Miuccia Prada’s extreme game of survival rush back to mind. Swapping out Prada studs and lace-ups for Demeulemeester chains and boots, my idea of a perfect Fall 09.
