Dior Homme Fall 2009

Four seasons into his role as creative director of Dior Homme, for Fall 2009, Kris Van Assche decidedly chooses to wipe out all sign of Hedi Slimane and continues on his mission to push a different silhouette into the houses archives. A recurring task that has been lingering about since the designer’s debut collection for Dior Homme, back in Spring 2008.

Moving away from the toxic hues of color and keeping the slash-like cut-outs from Spring 2009, Kris Van Assche channels more of a monochrome man this season. One that likes to play with the idea of high contrast. Black and white appear both alone and separate in almost every form, from boot to necklace, extreme variety is your left with.

Delicate folds on funnel-shaped collars and embellishments on a sweater not too loud to discourage men. Assche revamps the 80s to 90s club scene in a whole new way. Bringing MC Hammer pants into 2009. Along with longer-length shirts and rich wools, which instantly take you back to Hedi Slimane’s last collection for Dior Homme, seen in Fall 2007.
