Moncler Gamme Bleu Spring 2011 Men’s

Held responsible for some of fashion’s most epic and entertaining shows, designer Thom Browne once again outdoes himself at Moncler. Producing a collection based around bike riding, staging it in an area that couldn’t suit it any better.
Using the Velodromo Vigorelli track cycling arena in Milan to stage another one of his productions, Browne creates a multi-faceted sportswear wardrobe comprised of lighter fabrics, allowing for fast paces and swift movements. Recreating looks true to that of what your standard track cyclist could be found wearing, lycra shorts and leggings take to legs of models ready for a bike ride, fully equipped with classically striped hat instead of helmet and riding gloves. Though we have witnessed the pairing of shorts with leggings for quite some time now, Browne revamps the idea in an authentic manner, now displaying them printed with bicycles in red and blue, still managing to get them to read as masculine.
Repetition being a large facet in the show, we see patterns of checks both small and wide, alongside perforations appearing on both trouser and jacket.
As the show closed, models took to the track riding, you guessed it, bicycles. Perfectly matching the song “Bicycle Race”, by Queen, that floated through the background.
